Devolved Funding

DGYC acknowledges that different parts of the dioceses have different Youth Ministry needs. While some areas with larger parishes have full time paid youth workers, others have no facilities for Youth Ministry at all; therefore their requirements will be vastly different.

It is the aim of the DGYC that Youth Ministry will operate on a devolved basis with individual Rural Deaneries, or clusters of parishes (in Rural Deaneries or adjoining Rural Deaneries), deciding what will work best in their areas.

They will be supported in their endeavours by the Diocesan Youth Officer. To assist with any projects the DGYC is offering grants to Rural Deaneries and clusters of Parish to engage with Youth ministry in new and creative ways.

CIYD Next Steps

CIYD has created a bursary fund to significantly encourage the number of young people and current youth leaders to undertake 3rd level professional qualifications and development within the wider youth ministry sector, the impact of which would benefit ministry in the Church of Ireland. (Supported by the priorities Fund)

This fund would provide individuals with significant bursaries to encourage them in their application for relevant 3rd level undergraduate and postgraduate courses in relation to youth ministry, that might otherwise have been financially challenging. This is an Ireland wide project that we hope will support many young people and young adults with a significant impact on the youth ministry and wider ministry across the Church of Ireland.

Closing Date 31st March 2025
