Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up - Galatians 6:9

Learning is a process and in order to learn and grow, we need to look back and reflect. Reflecting is really important because we get to look back on some of the things that worked and others that didn’t. It’s an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and when we reflect and ask ourselves the questions, we learn more about ourselves. Sometimes, it can be scary but it can also be a really encouraging time.

Harvest is a time where we look back over the year and be thankful for what God has provided for us. I think, especially now in the current climate, it’s even more important to look for these times to be thankful.

In this time of Harvest, after we have given thanks to God for what He has done and we have reflected over the period since last Harvest, we may feel compelled to give back.

Giving back might mean looking in your communities for places to serve but it can also be looking at how we can become more conscious of our impact on the world.

Remember small acts of giving back to our communities and to the world can make a huge impact.

Some examples could be:

  1. Sending out cards to those in your Church Community.

  2. Checking on vulnerable people by phone, talking through the window just to say hi (with permission of course!)

  3. Donating essentials to DPDonations, which was set up by 2 college students to help those in Direct Provision: https://www.instagram.com/dpdonations/

  4. Check out OurTable who are Highlighting the need to end Direct Provision, through conversation over food. Events catering, pop up cafes and food activism!

  5. Tearfund have some amazing resources to start this conversation that are really practical.

There are so many more and there will be some that really speak to you and make sure to think outside the box!
