What are HUBS?

HUBS are an outreach opportunity for the Church of Ireland in various areas that will welcome ALL young people in the vicinity to gather in one place regularly. (Time frequency depending on individual HUBS and volunteers). This is not just for Church of Ireland Young people but we do understand the majority may well be.

Why?

From our conversation with local clergy we have seen a desire and opportunity for youth work. Form these conversations, it was highlighted to us that even though there was a desire for youth worker there is a lack of resources (financial, manpower, programmes, facilities).  It is our hope that by providing a HUB for youth work we can collaborate and partner with other parishes to provide a space for young people.

Another reason is that there is a struggle to provide a follow on for confirmation candidates and the HUBS could be a great place bridge the gap with confirmation and into youth space which could continue for the duration of their school years and even for them to become Junior leaders.

What makes HUBS different?

The HUB is not to replace local youth work.  In reality, the structure will be similar but the content will be looking at not only faith but also looking from a holistic view.  For example, Mental Health, Social Justice, Personal Development - Linking in with the 5 marks of Mission.
